2021 Yamaha NMAX Launched – From RM 8,998.00 posted on 2020-12-05 02:55:02

The Yamaha NMAX automatic step-through scooter had been in the market for five years. There were only cosmetic updates since then. Consequently, many fans were waiting for more thorough updates or an entirely new bike.
Hong Leong Yamaha Motors did not disappoint and have brought out the new 2021 NMAX.
Styling
First up is the styling which retains the identity of Yamaha’s MAX scooter models, namely the TMAX and XMAX. The front portion and taillight are the closely resemble those on the XMAX 250’s, while the “hefty shoulders” below the headstock are unmistakably NMAX.
New lighting
There is now the new 6-LED bulb headlight. 4 of those bulbs are for the low beam, while the other 2 are for the high beam. Additionally, there is a pair of LED position lights (also called daytime running lights or DRL for other bikes). The taillight is not LED with 4 LED stripes on each side to provide better visibility to other road users.

Blue Core engine with new starter
The NMAX was one of the first Yamaha bikes in Malaysia to feature the Blue Core package which ensures higher power output along with better cooling, economy, and comfort. Yamaha’s ubiquitous 155cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine is retained. It is now fitted with a Starter Generator Control Unit which integrates the Smart Motor Generator System for a quieter engine start. However, the engine is not fitted with a VVT (variable valve timing) unit, unlike those in other 155cc Yamaha models.

New electronics
Unlike its predecessor, the new bike is also equipped with a Stop & Start System which shuts down the engine automatically when idling at traffic lights to reduce fuel consumption. Twisting the throttle will restart the engine. This feature can be toggled via a switch on the handlebar.
Another new feature is an easy-to-read large LCD meter panel. The rider can toggle through the information display via a switch on the handlebar. Also for rider convenience, there is now a 12V socket which enables the rider to charge his devices while on the go.

Fuel and storage capacity
It is not a scooter if it does not provide convenience. The NMAX has a 23.3-liter underseat storage space which could hold an XL-sized full-face helmet, besides other items. There are also additional cubbyholes and a hanger in front of the rider.
Fuel capacity is 7.1 litres which is plenty considering the fuel saving nature of the engine.

Availability
The 2021 Yamaha NMAX is already available at authorised Yamaha dealers. It is prices at RM 8,998.00 excluding insurance and registration fees. It is offered 2 colours called Yamaha Grey and Matt Red.
