The 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS has been launched and what a bike it is.
This new bike is not just an upgrade over the 2018 model, instead Triumph purpose-build entirely new form the ground up to deliver a new benchmark for the naked class. The bike is intended to be a strong performer on both the streets and the racetrack.
The areas Triumph focused on are the Speed Triple’s established attributes and made them better:
- Power and performance.
- Agility, handling, and precision.
- Technology.
- Attitude and style.
To achieve the performance goals, the new Speed Triple receives:
- Engine incorporating insights from Moto2 racing.
- All-new 1160cc engine (up from 1050cc).
- 180ps peak power, up 30ps.
- 125Nm of peak torque, up 8Nm.
- 650 RPM higher revving.
- Lower inertia engine internals for more responsiveness.
- The engine is lighter overall.
- All-new free-breathing intake and exhaust systems.
In enhancing the bike’s handling:
- Lightest Speed Triple, ever at 198kg WET, 10kg lighter than its predecessor.
- All-new lightweight chassis for better mass-centralisation.
- New seating position for more purposeful riding position.
- Track specification equipment such as Ohlins suspension, Brembo Stylema brakes with linked braking system, Metzeler RACETEC RR tyres.
On the technology side:
- New Triumph Shift Assist up and down quickshifter.
- Optimised Cornering ABS and switchable Optimised Cornering Traction Control, based on inertial measurement unit (IMU).
- All-new 5” TFT screen and operating system.
- Five ride modes including enhanced Track Mode.
- Advanced front wheel lift control.
- New full-LED lighting.
- New full keyless system.

To achieve the new styling:
